Sierra dithering uses a two-row filter that produces very smooth gradients and minimizes visible grain and directional artifacts, making it well-suited to high-end engraving on glass, mirrors, polished granite, and acrylic where a clean, glossy look is desired. It runs slower than Floyd–Steinberg or Stucki but can deliver noticeably smoother tonal transitions; use it at 300+ DPI when quality is the priority.
